A linguist by training, former school teacher and Chinese teacher, Vigdis MORISSE - HERRERA is a seasoned entrepreneur with a lifelong passion for languages and teaching.
At the age of 11, Vigdis decided to learn Mandarin. As the language was not taught at her secondary school, she had to learn from a distance. Despite her high level of motivation, difficulties soon became
she was unable to assimilate the language correctly using conventional methodology, which she found far too daunting.
She waited until she was 16 to spend almost 2 years living in a Chinese family and finally learning to speak Mandarin.
Which turns into a passion for language teaching
A few years later, with a degree in Chinese and pedagogy in hand, Vigdis became a school teacher in the Hérault region, teaching Mandarin in schools and to private individuals.
She gives them her own method, lessons she would have liked to have received when she was younger, and finds that her methodology helps her pupils to progress. Inspired by her past difficulties
she decided to make learning Chinese accessible to everyone, in an effective, fun and self-paced way.
Vigdis puts its didactic skills to good use, creating from A to Z a new, fun learning software designed for the specific characteristics of the Chinese language. Les Petits Mandarins
was launched in 2016, and was an immediate success. In 2022, buoyed by the popularity of its Chinese language learning method, Vigdis went one step further and launched Globe Speaker.
A first adventure: Les Petits Mandarins
The history of Globe Speaker is directly linked to that of Petits Mandarins, a Chinese e-learning method launched in 2016 by Vigdis MORISSE - HERRERA, then a school teacher specialising in the teaching of Chinese. teaching Chinese. Aimed at professionals, businesses and schools as well as individuals from the age of 6, the method breaks away from the image of a complex and elitist language and was an immediate success.
A method based on the Serious Game...
Built on the principle of the "serious game", it includes more than fifty games combining listening, sentence reconstruction, work on semantics, sudokus, etc. To progress and move up the levels, the learner must achieve at least 80% success in all exercises. This is a way to maintain motivation and progress at their own pace, without getting bored, since each new session offers unique random tests.
And becoming a benchmark
The "Les Petits Mandarins" method has become in 7 years an innovative and fun French reference for teaching Chinese, accessible online on Web & Mobile, from beginner to advanced (A1 to C2 and from HSK1 to HSK6). Les Petits Mandarins received the Jury's Favorite award at the 2016 i-novation pédagogique prize and second place at the EdTech MGEN awards in 2019.
Success paves the way for other languages
Building on the success of "Les Petits Mandarins", Vigdis MORISSE – HERRERA founded Globe Speaker in 2022, a publisher of multilingual digital learning solutions. Her ambition is to offer a wide range of European languages – English, Italian, French, Spanish – as well as Eastern languages – Russian, Japanese, Arabic.
Chinese, for its part, is still offered on the \"Les Petits Mandarins\" website, which has now become a Globe Speaker brand. In total, more than 30,000 users have already signed up to Globe Speaker to learn one or more languages! Soon, German, Portuguese, Korean, Hindi and Thai will also be available on the platform. By rounding out its catalogue of languages distant from our European culture, Globe Speaker stands apart from its peers and now establishes itself as the reference for learning rare and Eastern languages.
